Long time, no blog post! I know it has been so long between blog posts. I feel like my life has just been so crazy busy lately, and to be honest I am still trying to get on top of it all. I have been working like crazy, studying, doing assessments, traveled to Thailand and looking for a new house to move into. Because of all of this I have barely had any time to focus on makeup. I still have a lot going on, so my posts won’t be as regular as I would like. But I am trying my best to get back into the swing of things, so please bear with me.
I am super excited for this post! As soon as I saw the reveal for this collection I knew I had to have it. Although I might be a little late with this first impression (I did receive this package while I was in Thailand so it was always going to be a little delayed) I am hoping that the expression better late than never applies.
Shayla (also known as makeupshayla on Instagram) teamed up with the amazing Colourpop Cosmetics to release her own collection of products. If you have read of my previous posts about Colourpop, you would know that it is a new favourite of mine. Their entire range is extremely cheap but has really high quality, and they have something for everyone.
Let’s break down the collection a little bit! Firstly, there is the ‘Perception’ pressed powder shadow palette, which costs $23 USD (approx. $30 AUD) and it contains 16 amazing pressed shadows, with the perfect mix of matte and metallic finishes. Then there are three stunning creme lux lipstick shades, ‘Quickie’, ‘C’ mon Sis’ and ‘Oouuuu!’. These can be bought separately for $7 USD (approx. $9 AUD) or in a set for only $21 USD (approx. $28 AUD). Next, there is a super sparkly ultra glossy lip called ‘Neat Freak’ which costs only $6 USD (approx. $9 AUD). Last but not least, there are two stunning luster dust loose highlighters, ‘Pose’ and ‘Boomin’ which run for only $7 USD (approx. $9 AUD).
I picked up the entire collection during their first release as a bundle which cost $59 USD (approx. $78 AUD). The collection sold out during this release but has since been restocked at the time of this post.
Let’s get into swatching and my first impressions on the products.
I have recently grown to love the formula and pigmentation of the Colourpop pressed powder shadows. They blend super easily and look amazing on the eyes. The ‘Perception’ palette contains a great mix of 6 mattes and 12 metallic shades. They are super pigmented (as expected) and I can definitely see myself using each and every shade. As you can see by the swatches (excuse the goosebumps, it was freezing) the metallic shades are true standouts. I don’t know how Colourpop does it, but their metallic/shimmer shadows are my favourite formula by far! I love that this palette comes with the more natural shades, but also has 6 more ‘out-of-the-box’ shades as it can really allow you to make all different sort of looks with just the one palette. The packaging of this is also a highlight. I love the drips, the huge mirror and the fact that the shade names are under each shadow is a nice added bonus.
If I am being honest, I have never previously tried any of the crème lux lipsticks from Colourpop Cosmetics. I am a matte liquid lip kind of girl, as I am not a huge fan of the way other lipstick finishes look on my lips. The Shalya x Coloupop crème lux lipsticks are all creamy-matte shades and are said to be long-wearing. ‘Oouuuu!’ is a warm peach shade, ‘Quickie’ is a peachy nude and ‘C’ mon Sis’ is a soft pinky brown shade. I love that each of these shades could be worn by so many different skin tones. I see myself absolutely loving ‘Quickie’ and ‘C’ mon Sis’ as they are right up my ally. ‘Oouuuu!’ is something I will have to warm up to as I am not so used to wearing that sort of shade. The packaging is again beautiful!
As I have said many times, I am not a gloss wearer. I usually hate the look of gloss on my lips and I never really reach for the glosses I already have in my collection. However, I did want to try the Shalya x Colourpop gloss out as it looks absolutely stunning. ‘Neat Freak’ is an ultra glossy lip with high shine and a metallic pearl finish. It is peachy champagne with little pink and gold glitters mixed throughout. I can’t wait to try it out!
Lastly, the luster dust loose highlighters. To my knowledge, these are the first loose highlighters in the Colourpop line and by the looks of things they won’t be the last. ‘Boomin’ is a peachy gold shade while ‘Pose’ is more of a warm copper. I will definitely get more wear out of ‘Boomin’ but I may be able to find another use for the warmer shade. These loose highlighters are super finely milled and are packed with high shine glitters and pearls which make for a pretty blinding highlight. Just from the swatches alone, I am obsessed!

That’s all for now Beauties!
