I am going to get straight into it today, as I feel this is going to be a long one! Today’s post starts the journey for a new series which will give you a look at my makeup collection. Just a few side notes before we start however, 1. for anyone wondering my skin type is combination (it is usually dry however it can get slightly oily in the t-zone as the day goes on) and 2. foundation is such a personal thing, what works for me may not work for you.
Let’s get into it!
Iconic London Pigment Stick (shade 3) – these were the first ever pigment sticks I tried, and even though it took me a while to get used to them, I really do love them! It is easy to apply, has a nice creamy texture and high coverage which makes my skin look flawless, what more could you ask for?
Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation (shade porcelain beige) – this is a new one in my collection, so I haven’t had a chance to really test it out as much as I would like before giving you a full review. So far, I love the coverage and the finish, but I am unsure how long it truly lasts on the skin. The shade range though… no comment.
NYX Cosmetics Total Control (shade natural) – I absolutely love this foundation as it can be built up into a higher coverage, or sheered out for a more natural looking base. It has a beautiful velvety matte smooth finish.
Milani Conceal + Perfect (shade 02 natural) – another newer one in my collection, and so far I am loving it! It is quite a dark shade (thats what you get for buying it online I guess) but when I have a fresh tan on it is a perfect match!
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define (shade F7) – yet another newer one in my collection! I had heard so many good things about this foundation, so when BeautyBay had a sale on I knew I just had to pick it up and finally try it! So far, the coverage is medium but build-able, but I am unsure of how long it lasts on the skin. I will keep you posted!
Maybelline Super Stay (shade 10 ivory) – I am obsessed with this! Again, this foundation is newer in my collection but I have been reaching for it non-stop since I got my hands on it. The coverage is build-able, it is more on the matte side and it leaves the skin looking smooth and flawless.
Iconic London Pigment Stick (shade 2.2) – another lighter shade, read above for my thoughts.
NYX Cosmetics Total Control (shade porcelain) – just a lighter shade for when I have no tan on, read above for my thoughts.
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define (shade F1) – another shade that I brought on sale, read above for my thoughts.
Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea (shade fair-light sand) – I absolutely LOVE this foundation for when I am embracing my natural pale skin! It is so lightweight, but it covers everything I need it too. It is also super hydrating which is great in the drier winter months.
Maybelline Super Stay (shade 03 true ivory) – read above for my thoughts.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow (shade 201 classic ivory) – I know what you are thinking, Emma, didn’t you say that you had oily skin? Why would you get a pro-glow foundation! Well my friends, Katy loved it so I knew I had to try it! I have been loving this foundation for the colder months when my skin tends to be slightly more on the drier side.
Maybelline Matte + Poreless (shade 120 classic ivory) – I am still working my way through this foundation as it isn’t one that I always reach for however, I do still really like it. It is great for those warmer months when my skin tends to be a little more oily. It has a medium coverage and really leaves the skin looking smooth and radiant.
L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte (shade 22 radiant beige) – I definitely don’t reach for this one as much as I used to. However, I still love it as it is super lightweight, blend-able and has a light to medium coverage with a matte finish.
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (shade fiji) – this is another favourite in my collection due to its natural looking coverage, luminous texture and flawless finish! It isn’t something I reach for all the time simply because it is a shade for when I have a fresh, dark tan.
L’Oreal True Match (shade vanilla) – this is an old favourite of mine. I really love the way it wears on the skin throughout the day. It is super bendable and works great at hiding any imperfections with its medium (but build-able) coverage.
Napoleon Perdis Advanced Mineral Makeup (shade medium) – I have now gotten rid of this foundation out of my collection as I never was able to fall in love with it. I found it to be really thick (horrible for dry skin) and the colour was WAAAY off for me.
ChiChi Cosmetics Fabulous & Flawless (shade 5 natural beige) – this is another old favourite of mine. It is a beautiful oil-free foundation with medium and build-able coverage.
Too Faced Born This Way (shade nude) – this is without a doubt my holy grail foundation! I love its medium/high coverage as well as the fact that it is oil-free. I also love the fact that it contains coconut water which helps to keep the skin hydrated all day long.
L.A. Girl Pro.Coverage (shade fair) – I haven’t had a chance to use this one too much since I brought it late last year. But the few times I have reached for it I have loved it. The coverage is (you guessed it) medium and build-able (I do have a type).
Wet N Wild PhotoFocus (shade soft beige) – if you haven’t tried this foundation, I recommend you quickly run out and get your hands on it. Not only is it super affordable, but it is also amazing! The coverage is medium (but build-able), it leaves your skin looking smooth and flawless. The only downside is, the smell is a bit on the nasty side. But I can see past that for this price point.
What are some of your favourite foundations? Which foundations would you like me to complete a full review and wear test on? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂
That’s all for now Beauties!
