How To: Take The Best Swatch Photos

Hi Beauties!

Welcome back to another blog post. As you can tell by the title, today I am going to be sharing some swatching secrets with you all. Well, if you follow my Instagram at all then what I am about to tell you won’t come as much of a surprise, and if you don’t follow my Instagram, wtf are you doing?

I joke! Anyway, have you ever wondered how so many beauty pages and blogs get those amazing patterned or cool shaped product swatches? Well, they probably use swatch stencils! If you are a little confused, swatch stencils are like little sticker sheets that you can stick to any surface and they help up that swatching game of yours.

When I first started out with my Instagram, I used to just do the good old finger line swatch on the arm and call it a day. There is nothing wrong with this by the way! It’s quick and easy and affordable because well, arms and fingers don’t usually cost anything and don’t take a week or two to be sent to you. However, if you want to move those swatches into the next level of professional, you jump online and find some sweet ass swatch stencil stores. The first ones I ever came across (and the only ones I have ever used right up to this very day) are by MissFitzDesign on Etsy. Not only does she make the coolest designs, but she also makes some pretty sweet decal stickers too.

MissFitsDesign, also known as Hannah, is based in New Zealand. She releases new swatch stencils on the regular, so you can pretty much find any swatch type that you desire. I have gone through PLENTY of her designs and I am yet to find one that I don’t like. You can find anything from straight-up bar swatches to flowers, themes, negative space and even words. Recently she came out with a sort of ‘make your own swatch stencil’ concept, and it’s pretty darn cool.

I know this is sounding like a #sponsored post, but it really isn’t. I genuinely just love these swatch designs, and if I am being honest, I am too afraid to look anywhere else. Anyway, let me share with you some of the swatches I have done so you can get a better idea as to why these things are amazing!

Recently, Australia has been destroyed by horrible bushfires. So many lives, property, land and animals have been sadly lost. Unfortunately, the fight isn’t over yet as we are still in the middle of the worst bushfire season ever. Why am I bringing this up? Because right now, MissFitzDesign is doing something amazing. She has created these beautiful Australian swatch stencils for customers to buy. They are $5.05 AUD and all proceeds from the sales of these stencils will go to The Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors. Go and pick some up right now!

Have you ever tried swatch stencils before? Which brand do you use? (No seriously, tell me cause I can’t get enough of them).

That’s all for now Beauties!
