I am all about making smart and affordable choices in life and that doesn’t stop when it comes to the type/brand of makeup brushes I use. I am a firm believer in the idea that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on a brush to make your makeup application better. You can get the same results (sometimes even better) with good quality, and yet affordable, brushes. In today’s post, I am going to share all my favourite affordable brushes with you. If you want to see which makeup brushes are worth the hype, keep reading.
Some of my newer favourite brushes come from the amazing New Zealand brand Xo Beauty. If you didn’t know, Xo Beauty is the professional beauty company founded by YouTube queen ShaaanXo in 2012. None of their products are tested on animals which is an added bonus. I have tried a handful of brushes from this brand and so far I have loved every single one of them. The best part about this brand is that they have worldwide shipping so everyone can get their hands on these goodies. Some of my favourites from Xo Beauty are the angled face brush, tapered face brush and the fluffy blender brush. Do yourself a favour and pick up some of their lashes too while you’re there!
Some of the oldest brushes in my collection are from the eBay famous brand Jessup. These are some of the cheapest brushes I have ever come across and when I first purchased them I wasn’t sure if they would even be worth the $20 I paid for them. Years later and I still have the majority of them in my collection and they are some of my favourites. If you are on a budget but still want to have a wide variety of brushes handy, then I really recommend these. My most used brushes from this collection would have to be the large powder brush, the duo fibre brush and some of the flat top eye brushes.
If you are after something a little more luxurious, but still don’t want to break the bank, then the Zoeva brushes are just the thing for you. They have the expensive high end feel and look without the crazy price tag. My favourites are the soft definer brush for eyeshadow, luxe grand powder for bronzer and the luxe smokey shader for packing on eyeshadow. All their brushes are super soft and have very little shedding which is definitely an added bonus.
Now for some random brushes that I have collected over the years that I have loved. Firstly we have the EcoTools eyeliner brush, which I was unfortunately unable to find anywhere online. I have had this one for years and years and that should help you to understand how amazing I find this brush. I have always struggled with winged liner but this brush makes it so much easier. Next up is the ELF Cosmetics blending brush which I bought from Kmart many moons ago. I loved it so much after I played around with it that I now have 4 of them in my collection. I use them for placing shadows on my inner corner, as well as blending out a look once all my shadow has been placed on the eye. Lastly, we have the Real Techniques setting brush. This is a must-have in my opinion as it is perfect to use on the lower lash line or to pack on the shadow.
Lastly, we have the Simple Glam Girls mystic purple unicorn brushes. I picked these up a while back after I saw them online. They are so stunning to look at, and they actually perform really well! I am always using their big fluffy blender to spread out my eye base and their angled face brush is perfect for contouring!
What are some of your favourite brushes? Have you tried any that I mentioned in today’s post? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂
That’s all for now Beauties
