Jeffree Star Cosmetics | Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection | Part Six

Hi Beauties!

Welcome back to another blog post! Today’s post is part six of my Jeffree star Cosmetics velour liquid lipstick collection series. As you may or may not know, Jeffree Star Cosmetics velour liquid lipsticks are by far some of my favourites. I love the comfortability of the formula, the colour range, and the fact that he is constantly releasing more and more shades. Due to the fact that I own almost every shade that he has brought out (minus a few early shades), I thought I would make a series looking at these products.

This month I am going to focus on some of the pink shades in my collection. Let’s get into it!

Products I’m Getting Rid Of | Vol.2

Hi Beauties!

I recently went through all my beauty products and had a HUGE clean out. Some products I had were so old that I couldn’t believe I still had them in my collection, some were empty or close to being empty, and others just don’t work for my skin so it’s time I part ways with them and give them to someone who will actually get use out of them. Today’s post is going to be all about these products!

Let’s get into it!

IMG_0102

Zoeva Nude Spectrum Palette – this hasn’t been in my collection for long, and as you can see it is definitely far from being empty. However, for whatever reason I am not loving this palette. Don’t get me wrong, the shades are beautiful and pigmented, I just find that I have SOOOO many other palettes that have similar colour stories that I always reach for. So I am going to pass this palette along to a family member and hope that they can give it the love and attention is well and truly deserves.

IMG_0104

Jeffree Star King Tut Skin Frost – again, this hasn’t been in my collection for too long. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking when I brought this product and I am actually angry at myself for wasting the money. Firstly, these highlights are blinding, however they are definitely not my favourite formula wise. Secondly, I am ghostly pale, so why did I ever think that this dark bronze shade would EVER work on my skin.

Rimmel London x Kate Moss Blush Collection – I have had this for quite a while now. I absolutely loved this product when it first came out. The highlight is poppin’, the blush and stunning and the bronzer isn’t too warm for my complexion. This is another product that I just don’t reach for anymore so it is time to make some room for some new goodies and pass this one along.

L’Oreal Paris Glam Bronze Eau De Soleil Bronzer – I have had this in my collection for soooooooo long now. I absolutely love this product as it gives such a beautiful natural bronze glow to the face. It has been a while since I have used it, and I don’t really how exactly how old it is, so it’s time to go in the bin! If they still sell this product, I will be grabbing myself another one.

Sportsgirl Glow With It Bronzer – I don’t really know what I was thinking when I brought this product. Don’t get me wrong, the bronzer is stunning and super glowy. I don’t really love the shimmer in this bronzer, and I can really only use it when I am fake tanned (which I have cut back on) so I never really reach for it.

IMG_0107

No Pong Deodorant – my sister put me onto this product in the middle of the year. I was very hesitant at trying because it is one of those deodorant that you have to put on with your hands, and I wasn’t sold on the ‘all natural’ side of things (I find they never really work at hiding smells). However, I absolutely LOVE this product and I have already repurchased 2 more tins of this. My skin is really sensitive under my arms and I find that spray deodorants can leave me feeling itchy and irritated. This natural deodorant really does work wonders!

IMG_0103

Lashes – the styles are Kara #wsp, kara #41 and the XoBeauty The Innocent. I am getting rid of these lashes simply because I have so many others in my collection that I love to use. These lashes just don’t really appeal to me anymore so I will pass them along to a family member (except the used ones, they are going in the bin obviously).

IMG_0105

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – I feel like everyone at some point in their makeup journeys have used this concealer. It is an old cult favourite, which is why mine is completely empty. This one is in the shade fair and it works perfectly with my pale skin to hide my dark undereye circles. I will definitely be repurchasing this concealer.

Too Faced Born this Way Mini Concealer – I have been through two of these concealers within the last few months. Yes they are minis, and yes I know they do have a full sized concealer. However I find these small ones so easy to carry around and travel with. I need to get my hands on the new full sized Born This Way concealers ASAP!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – I never thought I would ever get through this concealer, but I was wrong. I am so sad that this is empty and I need to repurchase it straight away because it is really amazing. It is super full coverage, it doesn’t crease on me and it lasts forever!

IMG_0106

Australis Metallix Shadows – I went through a phase of wanting to own all of the shades of this product, and while that was all well and good, I quickly realised that I will not and cannot ever use up ALL of these shades. I am getting rid of Plum Diddy (brown), Midnight Foil (black), Guns and Rose Petals (rose gold) and Girl on Sa-phire (dark blue). The blue and black shade have dried out a little so they no longer work the same as they once did, and the other two shades are similar to others I have in the collection. Time to go to a new home friends.

Eyeliners – I am getting rid of my white Australis eye pencil simply because I never use it and I have had it for way too long. I also have a NYX white eyeliner that I reach for more often and how many white eyeliners does one girl really need? I am also going to donate an unopened Black Bean Jumbo Eye Pencil by NYX simply because I didn’t realise that I already have this shade and again, I don’t need TWO of the same shade. I am also getting rid of my NYX gray eyeliner because I never reach for grey eyeliner, simple.

Lip Pencils – Jordana Berry Baby, Mac Whirl and Currant, Rimmel Addiction, Milani Sugar Plum and Clinique Violet Sky and Cocoa Peach. There is a whole mix of reasons I am getting rid of these lip liners, but the main one is because I never really reach for them. I am still learning how to perfect my lipstick and I am finding that I am better at NOT using lip liner. Some of these have been in my collection for too long, some barely show up on my lips and others are just not the shades for me.

Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix – in the shades Upside Down and Hotline. I am decluttering these lippies simply because the shades don’t really work well with my skin tone. I know some of my family members would suit these colours way more so I will passing these amazing products onto them.

What products have you used up this month? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

A few weeks ago Jeffree Star Cosmetics released their newest ‘Alien’ collection which includes a new eyeshadow palette, velour liquid lipsticks, lip scrubs and makeup bags. Colourpop Disney Designer Collection | 3 Princess Inspired Looks

Hi Beauties,

Doing something a little different on the blog today. Usually I save my makeup looks for my Instagram (makeupby.emmakate if you want to check me out). However, the other week I shared my first impressions of the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection and an amazing follower (thanks Aleeya) commented to let me know it would be super cool if I did some Princess inspired looks using the shadow palette. So, that’s what I did. If you enjoy this post let me know and I might do more of them in the future.

Let’s get into it!

I have seriously loved playing around with this palette and I am sure that I will be picking it up constantly over the next few months. I love that it has the usual transition colours, with a few darker shades, as well as the random pops of purples and pinks. It is definitely a palette that is great for travelling as you can create so many different looks with it.

Did you pick up anything from the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection? What was your favourite look? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow | My Ultimate Palette

Hi Beauties!

Makeup Geek is such a popular brand in the beauty community. These were some of the first eyeshadows I ever purchased when I started taking makeup seriously, and I have loved adding more to my collection ever since. However, I haven’t touched my Makeup Geek eyeshadows in a while, so I thought I would do a blog post dedicated to them in order to rekindle my love and hopefully give me some inspiration to create more looks using the eyeshadows.

Makeup Geek was founded by the amazing Marlena Stell after fans of her YouTube channel basically demanded that she started her own line. So in 2009 she did just that! Makeup Geek started with a bunch of eyeshadows and blushes, but quickly expanded to include contouring, eyeliners, pigments, glitters, highlighters, brushes and much more!

Today we are going to focus on my own customised Makeup Geek ‘holy grail’ palette! This palette is made up of some of their signature eyeshadows with a couple of foiled shadows thrown in. I obviously love this palette to bits as I created it myself using the tones and colours that I find complement my eyes and skin tone really well.

Let’s get into some swatches!

IMG_0039
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Vanilla Bean; Beaches & Cream; Peach Smoothie; Glamourous; Preppy; Tiki Hut; Early Bird

Vanilla Bean – light shimmer with peachy beige undertone

Tan Lines – fawn brown with a matte finish

Sidekick – cinnamon brown with a matte finish

Cocoa Bear – reddish brown with a matte finish

Cabin Fever – chestnut brown with a matte finish

IMG_0041
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Latte; Bandwagon; Faux Fur; Brownie Points; Barcelona Beach; Taupe Notch; Drama Queen

Latte – medium brown with a matte finish

Bandwagon – warm taupe with a matte finish

Faux Fur – soft mink brown with a matte finish

Brownie Points – warm taupe with a matte finish

Barcelona Beach – cool toned soft brown with a matte finish

Taupe Notch – true medium taupe shade with a shimmer finish

Drama Queen – dark purple with a shimmery finish

IMG_0042
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Pocket Change; Cupcake; Lucky Penny; Vintage; Bitten; Cherry Cola; Taboo

Pocket Change – soft bronze with a shimmery finish

Cupcake – medium pink with a matte finish

Lucky Penny – medium rose brown with a shimmery finish

Vintage – medium brown with mauve undertones and a matte finish

Bitten – deep maroon red with a matte finish

Cherry Cola – deep brown with strong red undertones and a matte finish

Taboo – ultra deep raisin purple with a matte finish

IMG_0043
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – White Lies; Shimma Shimma; Mocha; Bada Bing; Americano; Corrupt

White Lies – matte pure white

Mocha – deep brown with a matte finish

Bada Bing – gold-flecked chocolate brown with a subtle sparkly finish

Americano – dark brown with subtle purple undertones and a matte finish

Corrupt – intense matte black with a very subtle sparkle

The swatches for these shadows really don’t do them justice. The pigmentation is amazing and they blend so beautifully on the eyes. I love that Makeup Geek has such a wide shade range so you really can find the right colours for you to make your own ‘holy grail’ customized palette!

Have you tired any Makeup Geek Eyeshadows? What are some of your favourite Makeup Geek products? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Colourpop Cosmetics | Super Shock Collection

Hi Beauties!

ColourPop Cosmetics has definitely stepped up their game! With the constant influx of new products and collaborations, it is easy to see why this brand has become such a staple within the beauty community. And the best part? The majority of their single products within the price range of $5 – $8 USD ($6 – $11 AUD), so you can see why their products are a major hit.

I am a huge fan of their super shock shadows/cheek collections, so that is what today’s blog post is going to be all about. Let’s get into it!

(Note: it was VERY cold when I took the swatch photos, therefore I have goosebumps so the swatches don’t look as smooth as they usually would)

IMG_3947
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Highlighter Shades (top to bottom) – Flexitarian; Lunch Money; Over the Moon; Perilune; Honeymoon

Super Shock Highlighters

Flexitarian – intense white champagne; hands down my favourite highlighter shade from Colourpop Cosmetics! I love using this not only on my cheeks but as an inner corner highlight as well as it really intensifies any eye look and takes it to another level.

Lunch Money – soft light gold; perfect for that ‘ glow from within’ look!

Over the Moon – sheer opalescent pearl with hot pink and violet glitters; I know this looks a little scary, but it really adds such a beautiful shimmer to the skin which changes colour when the light hits your face in just the right spot.

Perilune – sheer opalescent pearl with green and gold glitter (discontinued)

Honeymoon – sheer opalescent pearl with blue and violet glitter; I know this one looks a little scary also, but I think it would be great to wear to a festival or if you are just going for a super bold highlighted look.

IMG_3951
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek Shades (top to bottom) – Birthday Suit; Cruel Intentions; Between the Sheets

Super Shock Blush

Birthday Suit – neutral pink; I love using a small duo fibre blush to layer this shade up on the skin. I will say that these blushes aren’t my favourite and they definitely aren’t SUPER pigmented, but I think for someone who can go overboard very easily (heavy hand syndrome anyone?) that really helps me out as I HAVE to build it up to get the colour payoff I want.

Cruel Intentions – warm rose; this shade seems scarier to me than the others, I think because it is noticeably darker. However, like I said, these blushes aren’t SUPER pigmented and therefore you do need to build it up to get a good colour payoff. That works great for this darker shade as I could easily end up with ‘clown cheeks’.

Between the Sheets – beige-pink; definitely my favourite shade of blush! Again I usually use a duo fibre brush to apply to the skin and gradually build up until I get the desired colour I am after.

IMG_3955
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Bronzer Shades (top to bottom) – Skinny Dip; Wisp

Super Shock Bronzers

Skinny Dip – matte warm brown (not on the website, possibly discontinued); love using this as a bronzer all over my cheeks and along the top of my forehead.

Wisp – golden champagne with gold pearls; technically Wisp is a highlight shade, however, due to my very light skin tone, I definitely wouldn’t be able to pull it off as a highlight unless I was SUPER fake tanned. I think it is an absolutely stunning bronze topper and would be great if you were going for a super glowy/bronzey makeup look.

Have you tried any Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek products? What are some of your favourite Colourpop products? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

What’s in my Makeup Bag | July 2018

Hi Beauties!

Alright Beauties, I need to admit to something. This is hard for me to admit to, I have really been in denial for a long time. But here it goes…

I own way too much makeup!

Okay, that was a little dramatic, but it is still true. I have been collecting makeup for many years now, and even though I do go through it every now and then and donate some of the products I don’t use, I also keep a lot in hopes that I will eventually use them one day. Because of this, I have decided that I want to start rotating items in and out of my ‘everyday’ makeup bag each month or so. I am hoping that this will get me to find some new favourites as well as rekindle the love I have for some of the older products I have in my collection.

Today’s blog post will not only give you a look inside my ‘everyday’ makeup bag but also a look into what I tend to take away with me when I don’t have loads of time to pack or space to put my makeup in. Just a small disclaimer, I don’t usually wear makeup on a day to day basis. If I am having an off day I might chuck on some concealer and mascara but that is usually it. However, I was away from home a bit this month and therefore wanted to make sure I had enough makeup to be able to apply a natural look or a more dramatic look, depending on where I was going.

Let’s get into my July makeup bag!

IMG_4248
Still One Step Correct Primer; Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops

Primer

Stila One Step Correct – this helps to even out my skin tone and brighten my skin.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops – this is a beautiful face oil that leaves my skin looking so radiant and glowy.

IMG_4249
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation; Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer; Too Faced Born This Way Mini Concealer

Foundation & Concealer

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – my holy grail foundation! Simple as that.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – I love using this alone to hide the fact that I have a shocking sleep schedule, it is also my perfect pale skin colour.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer Mini – I love carrying this with me when I travel because I can use it alone just to makeup myself seem more awake, or I can use it with a full face of makeup to give a nice highlighted effect to the face.

IMG_4250
Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette; Face of Australia Blush; Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder; Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer

Face Powders

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette –  who doesn’t love a handy little travel palette which contains an amazing highlight shade as well as a go-to contour shade. Added bonus that it takes up barely any room in my makeup bag!

Face of Australia Blush – I love this affordable blush, it blends super nicely on the skin and gives the perfect wash of colour.

Australis Fresh & Flawless Powder – this is one that will always be in my makeup bag, my all-time favourite setting powder!

Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer – my favourite bronzer shade for both pale and fake tanned days.

IMG_4251
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara; Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz & Brow Powder Duo; Tarte Maneater Palette; Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara

Eyes and Brows

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – as you can see, I keep 2 mascaras in my makeup bag at all times. This one is used for a more thicker and defined looking lash for days where I decide to wear some kind of eyeshadow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – this product helps me on my lazy days when I don’t want a super defined and bold brow look.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo – I love using this product when I am wearing more of a dramatic eye look, it still keeps my brows looking natural, but adds more depth and definition then a pencil would.

Tarte Maneater Palette – this is a small, yet sturdy eyeshadow palette that allows you to make a natural look or a more dramatic look depending on what you are going for.

Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara – I love this mascara for my more ‘everyday’ natural looks as it isn’t too thick on the lashes but it still adds length and definition.

IMG_4252
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Finishing It All Up

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – I love how this setting spray melts all the face products into one and makes everything sit nicely on the skin, as well as keeps everything put until you are ready to take it off.

You are probably wondering, Emma, where are the lip products? Well, I always carry a lip balm in my handbag. And as for lipstick, I will chuck in whatever lipstick colour I am feeling for the night, and let’s be honest, it is almost always a nude shade.

What products have you been loving this month? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

That’s all for now Beauties!
