Makeup Geek Eyeshadow | My Ultimate Palette

Hi Beauties!

Makeup Geek is such a popular brand in the beauty community. These were some of the first eyeshadows I ever purchased when I started taking makeup seriously, and I have loved adding more to my collection ever since. However, I haven’t touched my Makeup Geek eyeshadows in a while, so I thought I would do a blog post dedicated to them in order to rekindle my love and hopefully give me some inspiration to create more looks using the eyeshadows.

Makeup Geek was founded by the amazing Marlena Stell after fans of her YouTube channel basically demanded that she started her own line. So in 2009 she did just that! Makeup Geek started with a bunch of eyeshadows and blushes, but quickly expanded to include contouring, eyeliners, pigments, glitters, highlighters, brushes and much more!

Today we are going to focus on my own customised Makeup Geek ‘holy grail’ palette! This palette is made up of some of their signature eyeshadows with a couple of foiled shadows thrown in. I obviously love this palette to bits as I created it myself using the tones and colours that I find complement my eyes and skin tone really well.

Let’s get into some swatches!

Hi Beauties!

Welcome back to another blog post! Today’s post is part two of my Jeffree star Cosmetics velour liquid lipstick collection series. As you may or may not know, Jeffree Star Cosmetics velour liquid lipsticks are by far some of my favourites. I love the comfortability of the formula, the colour range, and the fact that he is constantly releasing more and more shades. Due to the fact that I own almost every shade that he has brought out (minus a few early shades), I thought I would make a series looking at these products.

This month I am going to focus on the orange, yellow and green shades in my collection. Let’s get into it!

Colourpop Cosmetics | Super Shock Collection

Hi Beauties!

ColourPop Cosmetics has definitely stepped up their game! With the constant influx of new products and collaborations, it is easy to see why this brand has become such a staple within the beauty community. And the best part? The majority of their single products within the price range of $5 – $8 USD ($6 – $11 AUD), so you can see why their products are a major hit.

I am a huge fan of their super shock shadows/cheek collections, so that is what today’s blog post is going to be all about. Let’s get into it!

(Note: it was VERY cold when I took the swatch photos, therefore I have goosebumps so the swatches don’t look as smooth as they usually would)

IMG_3947
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Highlighter Shades (top to bottom) – Flexitarian; Lunch Money; Over the Moon; Perilune; Honeymoon

Super Shock Highlighters

Flexitarian – intense white champagne; hands down my favourite highlighter shade from Colourpop Cosmetics! I love using this not only on my cheeks but as an inner corner highlight as well as it really intensifies any eye look and takes it to another level.

Lunch Money – soft light gold; perfect for that ‘ glow from within’ look!

Over the Moon – sheer opalescent pearl with hot pink and violet glitters; I know this looks a little scary, but it really adds such a beautiful shimmer to the skin which changes colour when the light hits your face in just the right spot.

Perilune – sheer opalescent pearl with green and gold glitter (discontinued)

Honeymoon – sheer opalescent pearl with blue and violet glitter; I know this one looks a little scary also, but I think it would be great to wear to a festival or if you are just going for a super bold highlighted look.

IMG_3951
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek Shades (top to bottom) – Birthday Suit; Cruel Intentions; Between the Sheets

Super Shock Blush

Birthday Suit – neutral pink; I love using a small duo fibre blush to layer this shade up on the skin. I will say that these blushes aren’t my favourite and they definitely aren’t SUPER pigmented, but I think for someone who can go overboard very easily (heavy hand syndrome anyone?) that really helps me out as I HAVE to build it up to get the colour payoff I want.

Cruel Intentions – warm rose; this shade seems scarier to me than the others, I think because it is noticeably darker. However, like I said, these blushes aren’t SUPER pigmented and therefore you do need to build it up to get a good colour payoff. That works great for this darker shade as I could easily end up with ‘clown cheeks’.

Between the Sheets – beige-pink; definitely my favourite shade of blush! Again I usually use a duo fibre brush to apply to the skin and gradually build up until I get the desired colour I am after.

IMG_3955
Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Bronzer Shades (top to bottom) – Skinny Dip; Wisp

Super Shock Bronzers

Skinny Dip – matte warm brown (not on the website, possibly discontinued); love using this as a bronzer all over my cheeks and along the top of my forehead.

Wisp – golden champagne with gold pearls; technically Wisp is a highlight shade, however, due to my very light skin tone, I definitely wouldn’t be able to pull it off as a highlight unless I was SUPER fake tanned. I think it is an absolutely stunning bronze topper and would be great if you were going for a super glowy/bronzey makeup look.

Have you tried any Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek products? What are some of your favourite Colourpop products? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

What’s in my Makeup Bag | July 2018

Hi Beauties!

Alright Beauties, I need to admit to something. This is hard for me to admit to, I have really been in denial for a long time. But here it goes…

I own way too much makeup!

Okay, that was a little dramatic, but it is still true. I have been collecting makeup for many years now, and even though I do go through it every now and then and donate some of the products I don’t use, I also keep a lot in hopes that I will eventually use them one day. Because of this, I have decided that I want to start rotating items in and out of my ‘everyday’ makeup bag each month or so. I am hoping that this will get me to find some new favourites as well as rekindle the love I have for some of the older products I have in my collection.

Today’s blog post will not only give you a look inside my ‘everyday’ makeup bag but also a look into what I tend to take away with me when I don’t have loads of time to pack or space to put my makeup in. Just a small disclaimer, I don’t usually wear makeup on a day to day basis. If I am having an off day I might chuck on some concealer and mascara but that is usually it. However, I was away from home a bit this month and therefore wanted to make sure I had enough makeup to be able to apply a natural look or a more dramatic look, depending on where I was going.

Let’s get into my July makeup bag!

IMG_4248
Still One Step Correct Primer; Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops

Primer

Stila One Step Correct – this helps to even out my skin tone and brighten my skin.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Radiance Drops – this is a beautiful face oil that leaves my skin looking so radiant and glowy.

IMG_4249
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation; Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer; Too Faced Born This Way Mini Concealer

Foundation & Concealer

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – my holy grail foundation! Simple as that.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – I love using this alone to hide the fact that I have a shocking sleep schedule, it is also my perfect pale skin colour.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer Mini – I love carrying this with me when I travel because I can use it alone just to makeup myself seem more awake, or I can use it with a full face of makeup to give a nice highlighted effect to the face.

IMG_4250
Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette; Face of Australia Blush; Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder; Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer

Face Powders

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette –  who doesn’t love a handy little travel palette which contains an amazing highlight shade as well as a go-to contour shade. Added bonus that it takes up barely any room in my makeup bag!

Face of Australia Blush – I love this affordable blush, it blends super nicely on the skin and gives the perfect wash of colour.

Australis Fresh & Flawless Powder – this is one that will always be in my makeup bag, my all-time favourite setting powder!

Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer – my favourite bronzer shade for both pale and fake tanned days.

IMG_4251
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara; Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz & Brow Powder Duo; Tarte Maneater Palette; Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara

Eyes and Brows

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – as you can see, I keep 2 mascaras in my makeup bag at all times. This one is used for a more thicker and defined looking lash for days where I decide to wear some kind of eyeshadow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – this product helps me on my lazy days when I don’t want a super defined and bold brow look.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo – I love using this product when I am wearing more of a dramatic eye look, it still keeps my brows looking natural, but adds more depth and definition then a pencil would.

Tarte Maneater Palette – this is a small, yet sturdy eyeshadow palette that allows you to make a natural look or a more dramatic look depending on what you are going for.

Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara – I love this mascara for my more ‘everyday’ natural looks as it isn’t too thick on the lashes but it still adds length and definition.

IMG_4252
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Finishing It All Up

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – I love how this setting spray melts all the face products into one and makes everything sit nicely on the skin, as well as keeps everything put until you are ready to take it off.

You are probably wondering, Emma, where are the lip products? Well, I always carry a lip balm in my handbag. And as for lipstick, I will chuck in whatever lipstick colour I am feeling for the night, and let’s be honest, it is almost always a nude shade.

What products have you been loving this month? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Mecca Max | Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette | First Impression

Hi Beauties!

Once again I can start by saying, long time, no blog post! Life has been crazy lately. I have finally moved houses (all my makeup is in boxes waiting to be neatly organised into its new home) and I am finally on holidays from work. So I am hoping that I can get back into the swing of things over the next couple of weeks. Now, enough personal chat, let’s get into some makeup!!

Earlier this week, Mecca announced the arrival of some new products on their Instagram. One of which is from their own brand, Mecca Max! The first pictures I saw of the new Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette had me hooked and the fact that it is a limited edition product meant I needed it then and there. So I raced to my local Mecca store the day after its arrival and picked one up! So today’s blog post is going to be all about my first impressions of the Mecca Max Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette!

IMG_0021

Let’s break the palette down a little bit. The Mecca website describes this palette as “the prettiest palette you ever did see – fit for a Beauty Queen! 15 Shimmering pigments for eye and face for a spotlight-savvy glow.” If that doesn’t make you want to rush out and grab one, then maybe the $38 price tag will do it for you!

IMG_0022

Firstly, the packaging. I love it! It is simple, yet stunning and feels really sturdy which is super important. It comes with a ginormous mirror which takes up the other side of the palette which is a definite added bonus.

Next, the texture and pigment. To be honest, I wasn’t sure about the texture when I first went in for a finger swatch. It seemed rough, but buttery at the same time. But I found that the more I went in, the more I liked the texture. As for pigmentation, it’s a yes from me! As you can see from the swatches, each and every shade in this palette shows up beautifully on the skin. Something to note, however, is that some of the shades swatch very differently to the way they look in the pan, but that is something I can look past as I love them either way.

Final thoughts – go and get it right now before you miss out!! Not only is this palette beautiful to look at, it is also super pigmented, gives you a lot to play with, can be used on the eyes and on the face and has 15 gorgeous shimmery shades for only $38!! You won’t be disappointed.

Did you pick up the Mecca Max Beauty Queen Eyeshadow Palette? What were your first impressions? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Jeffree Star Cosmetics | Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection | Part One

Hi Beauties!

Welcome back to another blog post! Today is going to be the first, of many, posts of a new series that I am going to be doing here on the blog. As you may or may not know, Jeffree Star Cosmetics velour liquid lipsticks are by far some of my favourites. I love the comfortability of the formula, the colour range, and the fact that he is constantly releasing more and more shades. Due to the fact that I own almost every shade that he has brought out (minus a few early shades), I thought I would start a series looking at these products. So if you are interested in seeing what shades are available, or have been available, or just want to know more about this product line then make sure to subscribe to my blog as I aim to post in this series every month!

This month I am going to focus on the red shades in my collection. Let’s get into it!

(Note: it was VERY cold when I took the swatch photos, therefore I have goosebumps so the swatches don’t look as smooth as they usually would. I was also too impatient to wait for the last to shades to dry down completely, so they also look a little funny in the swatch photos.)

IMG_3961

To show you exactly how well these velour liquid lipsticks last, I thought I would share a picture I took AFTER I scrubbed my arm with a basic makeup remover wipe. The staying power of these lipsticks is amazing! Just another reason why I highly recommend them.

Beauty Haul | Mecca & Sephora

Hi Beauties,

Last weekend I decided it was once again time to break my spending ban. I felt like it had been so long since I had treated myself to something special, and considering the week I had, I knew it was about time I grabbed myself some goodies. My sister and I travelled up to our favourite beauty shops to do a little retail therapy and that is what I am sharing with you today.

Let’s get into my beauty haul!

IMG_3005

Sephora – firstly, I picked up a restock of my favourite primer, Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I love using this primer when my pores a feeling really large and in charge. It really helps in making my makeup glide on super smoothly and stays put all day/night.

Next, I gravitated towards the Huda Beauty section. For ages I have had my eye on different bright coloured palettes as I feel like that is something I am missing from my collection. As soon as I opened the Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette I knew I had found what I had been looking for. The colours are so nice and bright and they swatched really nicely on my hand (separate post on this product will be coming soon).

I always love visiting the skin care section last. I am a sucker for beautiful lip, eye and face masks. This time I decided to pick up an old favourite, the Sephora Collection Pomegranate Eye Mask, as well as something new to try, being the Sephora Collection Nose Strip.

The last thing that caught my eye was the Sephora Collection Cosy Cotton Bubble Bath and Shower Gel. The smell of this product reminds me of bath time when I was a child, and I am hoping it will help with the lack of sleep I have been getting lately. I already love that I can use it as both a bubble bath and a shower gel.

IMG_3006

Mecca Maxima – as soon as I walked into the store I went straight to the Stila counter. I had picked up another Stila Liquid Eye Shadow a few weeks back and had fallen in love with it so I planned on grabbing a couple more shades. I fell in love with the shades ‘wanderlust’ and ‘rose gold retro’. I will definitely need to add more to my collection soon.

The very last thing I picked up was the Too Faced Hangover Primer as they had strategically placed this right in front of the checkouts. I had heard some great things about this product and decided I wanted to test it out for myself.

What are some of your recent beauty buys? Is there anything else you think I definitely need to try out? Leave me a comment below and let me know! 🙂

My False Lash Collection | March 2018

Hi Beauties,

If eyes are the windows to the soul, then lashes are the perfect pair of curtains!

When I first started out doing makeup the thought of putting on false eyelashes would literally give me nightmares. I was never very good at it and would always end up getting super frustrated trying to apply them. But then I realised that I was just using the wrong types of lashes for my eyes. After a lot of trial and error in trying to find the right lashes for me, my lash collection is finally one that I am in love with. I only ever use brands and styles that are easy to apply and aren’t too crazy dramatic. So know that the brands I am sharing today have been tried and tested for a long time, and I love and recommend all of them.

Let’s get into my lash collection!

IMG_2662
Ardell Lashes – Demi Wispies; Individual Lashes

Ardell Lashes – this was one of the very first lash brands that I ever tired when I first got into makeup, and for a good reason. They are definitely ‘first timer’ friendly as they are super easy to apply and also have invisible lash bands. In addition to this, they come in so many different styles which come under the ‘natural’, ‘glamour’ and ‘accent’ categories. My all-time favourite style would have to be the wispies. They are so fluttery and flirty and yet natural enough to wear on an everyday basis if that’s what you are into. I also really recommend the individual lashes to add that extra something to any makeup look. They are also handy when you want to add a little extra something to strip lashes.

IMG_2663
Lashed Co. – Miss Tokyo; Miss Budapest; Catherine; Amber; Rebecca

Lashed Co. – this brand has quickly become a new favourite over the last year, I have yet to try a style that I don’t like. They sell a whole heap of amazing styles which come under the ‘3D Faux Mink’ and ‘3D Silk’ lash categories, some of which are more natural than others and therefore a lot easier to apply. My favourite styles are definitely Miss Tokyo and Miss Budapest because they are simply stunning. They really compliment any type of eye look whether it be soft and natural or more on the dramatic side. I can’t wait to try out even more styles from this brand.

IMG_2664
xoBeauty – The Chic; The Gold Digger; The Primadonna; The Glamourista; The Heiress; The Brave; The Rebel; Fantasy Faux Mink

xoBeauty – if I had to wear only one lash brand for the rest of my life it would be this one. They have a style for literally everyone, are super easy to apply, have invisible or thin lash bands and can be reused so many times if looked after properly. I love that you can get natural flirty lashes, but also big fluffy dramatic lashes all from the one place. My favourite more natural everyday styles would definitely be The PrimadonnaThe Heiress and The Gold Digger lash styles. They are the perfect addition to any makeup look. My all-time favourite dramatic style would have to be The Brave lash as it really helps to complete a dark dramatic makeup look. Although the dramatic lashes are a little harder to apply due to their thicker lash band, it is still not impossible for those who may not be so used to wearing bigger lashes.

What are your favourite eyelash brands? Have you tried any of my favourites? Do you have any lash recommendations for me? Leave me a comment below and let me know! 🙂

That’s all for now beauties!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics | Love Sick Liquid Lipstick Review

Hi, Beauties!

If you don’t know who Jeffree Star is, then I’m going to assume that you have been living under a rock for the past few years! Although he is constantly surrounded by controversy and drama, there is no denying that he has been smashing it when it comes to his cosmetic line. On February 11th, he released a brand new Love Sick collection which contains a brand new ‘Blood Sugar’ eyeshadow palette, 3 lip ammunitions, 4 velour liquid lipsticks, mini red and pink bundle and lip scrubs! All the new products look absolutely amazing, and they all come in the beautiful red chrome packaging. I am still debating whether or not I want to grab the Blood Sugar Eyeshadow palette, so if you think I should let me know below!

I managed to pick up the four brand new velour liquid lipstick shades to add to my already quite large collection. His liquid lipstick formula is without a doubt my top favourite out of all the ones I have tried, it isn’t too drying, has great pigmentation and is super easy to apply to the lips. So as you already would have guessed, today’s post is going to be dedicated to them!

Let’s get into some swatches!

IMG_2939
Self Control – lilac purple shade
IMG_2940
Romeo – bight neon pink/coral shade
IMG_2941
Problematic – vibrant berry shade
IMG_2942
Restraints – matte metallic silver/gunmetal shade

The shades in this collection are beautiful, however, I do feel as though they are pretty tame compared to a few of his previous collections. The shades are similar to others in the range, so if you already own some other shades then I could see why would give this collection a miss. But for me, I aim to collect every shade he brings out as I love the collection, formula and pigmentation of Jeffree’s liquid lipsticks. I can’t wait to see what else Jeffree Star has in store for his brand this year!

Did you pick up any of this collection? Which colour was your favourite? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Recent Beauty Purchases

Hi Beauties!

I have been trying really hard to stick to my spending ban lately. However, with all the amazing Christmas/Boxing Day/New Years sales that have been available lately, I decided to treat myself to some great deals. So here is a quick little blog post showing you all of the goodies I picked up over the last few months. If you would love to see a review or more in-depth post on any of these products be sure to leave me a comment and let me know!

IMG_2591
Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Holiday Glitter Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection

Jeffree Star – I have been collecting all his velour liquid lipsticks for a while now, so I knew I had to break my spending ban when he released his Glitter Holiday Collection at the end of 2017. Not only does the packaging look amazing but the Jeffree Star liquid lips have my all-time favourite formula, not too drying and stays in place all day! I picked up all the shades (mermaid blood, berries on ice, human nature, poinsettia, Santa baby, first class, Medusa and Christmas cookie).

IMG_2592
ColourPop – Pressed Powder Shadows

ColourPop – You may have seen my recent post dedicated to the ColourPop pressed shadows. I have been continuing to test the shadows out to find the best ways to use the products. So, in addition to this, I decided to take advantage of their recent sales and grab a few more shades. When I opened the package I was surprised at how much I actually purchased! I picked up the ‘Yin to my Yang’ bundle (which included the shades: Now and Zen, Tea Gardens, Glass Bull, Snake Eyes, Dragonfly and Let’s Do It) and the single shades Tiny Tangerines, Pinky Promise and Crown Jewel.

IMG_2593
ColourPop – Brow Colours; Golden State of Mind Palette; Super Shock Shadows

ColourPop – In addition to the pressed shadows, I also picked up some new super shock shadows (in the shades Lit Year and Bae). I absolutely love ColourPops metallic super shock shadows because the formula is amazing and they look like liquid metal on the eyes. I also grabbed some of their precision brow colours to try out. I picked up two shades (Black N’ Brown and Bangin’ Brunette) as I wasn’t really sure what shade would best match my brows. I was smart with my purchases as I got them when they had a great deal going on which added a new palette to the cart once you spent over a certain amount. I loved the look of the Golden State of Mind palette anyways so the fact that I picked it up for free was an added bonus. I can’t wait to try out all these new goodies.

IMG_2590
XOBeauty – The Rebel False Lashes; The Brave False Lashes; Fantasy Faux Mink Lashes; Duo False Eyelash Glue (latex-free); Tapered Face Brush; Fluffy Blender Brush

XOBeauty – I absolutely love Shaaanxo aka Shannon Harris, so the fact that she has her own beauty line with amazing products makes me love her even more. I picked up some old favourites and one newbie from her website when she was having her amazing Boxing Day sales. I am in love with The Rebel and The Brave false lashes. I have used my old pairs to death so I figured it was time to grab some more pairs. I also fell in love with her new Faux Mink range, but my budget at the time only allowed for one pair from that range to try (in the style Fantasy). I also grabbed two of my all time favourite/most used brushes from her line, the Tapered Face Brush and the Fluffy Blender Brush. Lastly, her website stocks the amazing Duo Lash Glue (latex free is my favourite) so I thought I better grab a back up of that one just incase my current one runs out soon.

IMG_2598
Lashed Co. – Miss Budapest Lashes; Miss Tokyo Lashes

Lashed Co. – I fell in love with this brand in 2017. They have so many amazing lash styles and are super affordable. My two current favourite lash styles from them are Miss Budapest and Miss Tokyo, so when they recently had free shipping on all orders I knew I had to grab two more of each style as back ups. They are so easy to apply, look amazing on the eyes and are just so damn fluffy, how could you not love these lashes.

Okay, time to go back on my spending ban!

What are some of your recent beauty buys? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂
