Jeffree Star Cosmetics | Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection | Part Six

Hi Beauties!

Welcome back to another blog post! Today’s post is part six of my Jeffree star Cosmetics velour liquid lipstick collection series. As you may or may not know, Jeffree Star Cosmetics velour liquid lipsticks are by far some of my favourites. I love the comfortability of the formula, the colour range, and the fact that he is constantly releasing more and more shades. Due to the fact that I own almost every shade that he has brought out (minus a few early shades), I thought I would make a series looking at these products.

This month I am going to focus on some of the pink shades in my collection. Let’s get into it!

But for today, we are going to look at the newest 8 shades in the Velour Liquid Lipstick range!

Colourpop Disney Designer Collection | 3 Princess Inspired Looks

Hi Beauties,

Doing something a little different on the blog today. Usually I save my makeup looks for my Instagram (makeupby.emmakate if you want to check me out). However, the other week I shared my first impressions of the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection and an amazing follower (thanks Aleeya) commented to let me know it would be super cool if I did some Princess inspired looks using the shadow palette. So, that’s what I did. If you enjoy this post let me know and I might do more of them in the future.

Let’s get into it!

Look 1 – Ariel

  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – It’s A Princess Thing shadow palette (juju, poison apple, magic carpet & enchanted rose)
  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – Ariel lux lipstick

  • Jeffree Star Cosmetics – ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ velour liquid lipstick in waterline
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills – brow powder duo

I have seriously loved playing around with this palette and I am sure that I will be picking it up constantly over the next few months. I love that it has the usual transition colours, with a few darker shades, as well as the random pops of purples and pinks. It is definitely a palette that is great for travelling as you can create so many different looks with it.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow | Foiled and Duochrome Shadows

Hi Beauties!

Makeup Geek is such a popular brand in the beauty community. These were some of the first eyeshadows I ever purchased when I started taking makeup seriously, and I have loved adding more to my collection ever since. However, I haven’t touched my Makeup Geek eyeshadows in a while, so I thought I would do a blog post dedicated to them in order to rekindle my love and hopefully give me some inspiration to create more looks using the eyeshadows.

Makeup Geek was founded by the amazing Marlena Stell after fans of her YouTube channel basically demanded that she started her own line. So in 2009 she did just that! Makeup Geek started with a bunch of eyeshadows and blushes, but quickly expanded to include contouring, eyeliners, pigments, glitters, highlighters, brushes and much more!

Today we are going to focus on my own customised Makeup Geek palette! This palette is made up of some of their foiled shadows, with a couple of duo chrome shades thrown in.

Let’s get into some swatches!

IMG_0035

IMG_0036
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Charmed; Havoc; Ritzy; Take Two; Epic; Houdini; Curtain Call

Charmed – muted silvery light olive green with taupe undertones and a foiled finish

Havoc –  orangey-brown base with some teal reflect

Ritzy – warm red-brown base with green and gold reflects, duochrome finish

Take Two – olive green with a foiled finish

Epic – emerald green with a metallic foiled finish

Houdini – deep emerald teal green with a foiled finish

Curtain Call – cranberry red with a foiled finish

IMG_0037
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Nostalgic; Whimsical; Daydreamer; Caitlin Rose; Plot Twist; Hype; Masquerade

Nostalgic – bubble gum pink with a metallic foiled finish

Whimsical – silvery pink with a foiled finish

Daydreamer – cool lavender/lilac with silver shimmer, foiled finish

Caitlin Rose – bright amethyst purple with a foiled finish

Plot Twist – medium periwinkle with a metallic foiled finish

Hype – amethyst purple with a metallic foiled finish

Masquerade – bright medium plum with warm undertones and a foiled finish

IMG_0038
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Shades (top to bottom) – Limelight; Pegasus; Sorcery

Limelight – lime green with a metallic foiled finish

Pegasus – light, bright aqua with a foiled finish

Sorcery – deep slate with a metallic foiled finish

As you can tell by the swatches, these eyeshadows are PIGMENTED. They seriously look like metal on the eyes when applied with a little bit of fix+. I love using these shadows all over the lid to elavate a makeup look to the next level!

Have you tired any Makeup Geek eye shadows? What are some of your favourite Makeup Geek products? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Colourpop Disney Designer Collection | First Impression

Hi Beauties!

Once upon a time… (last week), Colourpop Cosmetics launched their new, limited edition, Disney Designer Collection! I was so excited when I first saw the sneak peaks of this collection and I knew I had to get my hands on some of the goodies. If you have read any of my previous posts about Colourpop, you would know that they are a big favourite of mine. Their entire range is extremely cheap but has really high quality, and they have something for everyone.

Let’s break down the collection a little bit! Firstly, there is the ‘It’s A Princess Thing’ pressed powder shadow palette, which costs $20 USD (approx. $28 AUD) and it contains 15 eyeshadows with a mix of matte, sheen and metallic shades which are inspired by the iconic Disney Princesses. Then there are three stunning ultra glossy lip shades, ‘Bibbidi’, ‘Bobbidi’ and ‘Boo’ . These can be bought separately for $6 USD each (approx. $9 AUD). Next there are 6 crème lux lipstick shades, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Belle’, ‘Ariel’, ‘Snow White’, ‘Jasmine’ and ‘Tiana’. These cost only $7 USD each (approx. $10 AUD). Then there are 6 amazing super shock shadow shades, ‘Heigh-Ho’, ‘So This Is Love’, ‘Under The Sea’, ‘Be Our Guest’, ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Almost There’ and these will set you back $5 USD each (approx. $7 AUD). Last but not least, Colourpop also released 2 stunning super shock highlighter shades, ‘Part Of Your World’ and ‘A Smile And A Song’. These run for $8 USD each (approx. $11 AUD). I only picked up the eyeshadow palette and three of the crème lux lipsticks as these were the products I would get the most use out of/they went out of stock so quickly!

Let’s get into swatching and my first impressions of the products I picked up.

The formula and pigmentation of the Colourpop pressed powder shadows is something that I have really grown to love over the past year. They blend super easily and look absolutely amazing on the eyes. The ‘It’s A Princess Thing’ palette contains a great mix of 4 matte and 11 metallic/glitter/shimmer shades. They are super pigmented as you can see by the swatches and the shade range allows you to create so many amazing different looks. Colourpop’s metallic/shimmer shades are my favourite (formula wise) by far! I don’t know how they do it.

I love the packaging on this palette as well. I love the modern take of the Princess art on the front, and the fact that the shade names are on the back AND underneath the shades as well. My favourite shades would have to be Poison Apple, Fairy Godmother and Thingamabob purely because of the shine and pigmentation that they give. The only thing that is missing is a large mirror, but that can be forgiven.

IMG_0042

I haven’t tried many of the Colourpop creme lux lipsticks in the past as I am more of a matte liquid lipstick kind of girl. The Disney Designer Collection creme lux lipsticks are all creamy-matte shades and are also said to be long wearing. ‘Ariel’ is a peachy beige nude shade, ‘Belle’ is a rosy berry shade and ‘Snow White’ is a candy apple red shade. Although ‘Ariel’ and ‘Belle’ are so similar, the difference is just enough to warrant having both of them in my collection. The pigmentation is amazing on these products, I only did one swipe for the swatches and as you can see they are full and rich of pigment. I can see myself wearing all these shades.

IMG_0041

An extra bonus is the packaging! I love the modern drawings of the Princesses on the carton and I also love the fact that all the Princesses signatures are on the cap of the lipsticks.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? What Disney Princess is your favourite? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

I love the comfortability of the formula, the colour range, and the fact that he is constantly releasing more and more shades. Due to the fact that I own almost every shade that he has brought out (minus a few early shades), I thought I would make a series looking at these products.

This month I am going to focus on the blue shades in my collection. Let’s get into it!

What’s in my Makeup Bag | August 2018

Hi Beauties!

As I have already admitted in the past, I own way to much makeup. So I have been aiming to swap out products I have in my ‘everyday’ bag each month or so in the hopes that this will get me to find new favourites or rekindle the love I have for some of the older products in my collection.

Today’s blog post will give you a look inside my ‘everyday’ makeup bag for August. Although I don’t usually wear makeup on a day to day basis, I still have a small bag with a few basic products in my bathroom ready for me to use when I am feeling like I want to put something on. I won’t be sharing my makeup bag every single month (unless that is something you want to see?) but I have been loving the products in there this month so I knew I had to share with you guys.

So, let’s get into my August makeup bag!

IMG_4721

Foundation & Concealer

NYX Total Control Foundation – I have been embracing my ghost like skin a lot lately, which means I need a really light foundation to make it. I found that this foundation is the BEST colour match in the drugstore that I have tried so far. I love the buildable coverage and I love the finish of this foundation. Added bonus – it lasts all day/night!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – do I even need to explain myself here? Great coverage. Doesn’t crease. Makes me look more awake. Simple.

Too Faced Born This Way Mini Concealer – I featured this last month as well, and my reasoning behind it remaining in my makeup bag stays the same. I love carrying it around with me because its small, and I can use it with either a full face of makeup or alone to make me look a little bit more awake.

IMG_4722

Face Powders

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer – I have had this in my collection for a little while now (how long is too long for a bronzer btw?) and I haven’t really reached for it as much lately. So when I was picking out a bronzer for this month I knew I had to chuck this one in the bag. It is great for us pale beauties as it isn’t too orange on the skin and it doesn’t go on TOO pigmented so you can really work it up to look amazing on the cheeks.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder – again, I needed a powder this month that didn’t have a lot of colour to it, but also didn’t pull too yellow or pink on the skin, and this one was perfect! Plus its super cheap and easily accessible.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (moonstone) – do I need to explain this one too? I love the glow that these products give to the skin. If you are unfamiliar, it’s not super blinding, but it can be build up. I would say it gives the skin a ‘glow from within’ look.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Mini Blush (feisty) – I picked this up in a little pack that tarte sold a while ago and I am so glad that I did. It is such a beautiful blush because it isn’t overly pigmented, which I love because I have heavy hand syndrome when it comes to blushes! Unfortunately I can’t find it anywhere on the website so I don’t think it is available anymore.

IMG_4725

Eyes & Brows

Too Faced Than Sex Waterproof Mascara – I know what you are thinking. Emma, why the waterproof one? Well I find that most mascaras will transfer to my eyelid during the day if they aren’t waterproof or water resistant. I heard good things about the original Better Than Sex mascara so I hoped that the waterproof version was the same. So far so good!

Benefit Gimme Brow – I used up my old Gimme Brow about 3 months ago, so I FINALLY got my hands on a new one. If you are unfamiliar with this product, it is just a coloured brow gel which helps set your brows down but it also adds some dimension to them. Love love and love. I feel like this will always be in my makeup bag from now on.

Colourpop Brow Colour – I got my hair dyed this month, and it is a little darker than usual so I needed to find a product that complemented my new hair. Luckily I had ordered two shades of this product a while back. One matched my old hair perfectly and the other was just a shade too dark. I used it for the first time last week and I loved the colour with my new hair!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo – I love using this product when I am wearing more of a dramatic eye look, or wanting a super defined brow, it keeps my brows looking natural, but adds more depth and definition then a pencil would.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer – I love this product on my lazier days when I want a brow, but don’t want it to be too defined or bold. I can quickly run this product through the front and tail of my brow and call it a day!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – similarly to the brow definer, this product helps me on my lazy days when I don’t want a super defined and bold brow look, but I still want it to look nice.

What products have you been loving this month? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow | My Ultimate Palette

Today we are going to focus on my own customised Makeup Geek ‘holy grail’ palette! This palette is made up of some of their signature eyeshadows with a couple of foiled shadows thrown in. I obviously love this palette to bits as I created it myself using the tones and colours that I find complement my eyes and skin tone really well.
