New Release | Ulta3 | Dark Summer Collection

Hi Beauties,

I am back at you again with a new post! I am really trying to get back into being more consistent with posting again, but it might take me some time as I have a lot of ideas going on in my head, and so little time to see them through!

Anyway, in today’s post, we are going to have a look at a brand new collection that was just released last week! I was lucky enough to be sent some of the new Ulta3 Dark Summer Collection to try out from the lovely Julia and the Ulta3 team.

The Dark Summer Collection is a stunningly warm and wearable collection with a fashionably dark twist, according to Ulta3. They believe that reflective and multi-dimensional tones are no stranger to the summer season, but this new collection features a striking addition to the traditional bronzed summer look we all know and love. This collection features dark plum shades, berry tones and a mix of metallics that will help elevate your look!

First up in the collection we have the Great Lengths Mascara, which comes in both a normal and waterproof edition. Ulta3 believes that if long and defined lashes are your thing, then this is your product! This mascara comes with a slimline silicone brush that ensures that even those small, difficult to reach lashes are coated. The formula is also infused with Vitamin E and Biotinoyl Tripeptide which helps to hydrate and strengthen lashes. I myself love a waterproof or water-resistant formula when it comes to mascaras as I have always had issues with transferring during the day from normal mascaras. The Great Lengths Mascara retails for only $9.95 AUD.

Next up we have the limited edition Master Metals Eyeshadows, which comes in three stunning metallic shades – Brass, Bronze and Copper. If you love making a statement with super reflective, creamy metallic eyeshadows than these might be the products for you! The high-intensity formula of these shadows means that a little product goes a really long way. The Master Metals Eyeshadow retails for $6.95 AUD each.

Next in this collection, we have the Longwear Matte Lip Cream, which comes in 3 shades – Fearless, Strike Out and Dark Dreams. I was lucky enough to receive the shade Strike Out which is a stunning deep red shade. I love a liquid lipstick so I am hoping that this will be no exception. My first impression of the formula is that it is very pigmented and has the potential to be a new favourite of mine! The Longwear Matte Lip Creams retail for $7.95 AUD each.

What good is having great eyeshadow, if you have no base to put it on? The next product in this collection is the All Night Long Eyeshadow Primer. Eyeshadow primers help to extend the wear and increase the intensity of any eyeshadow with just one simple step. I can’t wait to start using this, as I have just gotten into trying out different eyeshadow bases! The Ulta3 All Night Long Eyeshadow Primer retails for $6.95 AUD.

The Dark Summer Collection features not one, but TWO different mascara types. The second is the Loud and Proud Mascara, which also comes in a waterproof and normal formula. Ulta3 believes that if you love yourself some thick and voluminous lashes then this is the mascara for you. This product comes with a non-clumping, high-lift formula that ensures all lashes are completely coated and lifted. I am down to the last few uses of my current mascara, so I am beyond happy to test out this one soon! The Loud and Proud Mascara retails for $9.95 AUD.

Last, but certainly not least, we have some stunning limited edition nail polishes! There are three shades available – Thunder, Sangria and Evolve. I have really been loving my Ulta3 polishes so far. I do get my nails done by my trusty nail tech, but I tend to mix up the colours on my toes every now and then, and that’s how I have been testing them out. I am loving the look of both the shades I received (Sangria, a deep brown/red shade and Evolve, a metallic brown shade). However, I really am intrigued about the Thunder shade, so I might have to go pick it up myself. The Ulta3 Nail Polishes retail for only $2.95 AUD each!

This range is vegan and cruelty-free and is available to purchase now at selected pharmacies and online

*Disclaimer – all these products have been generously gifted to me, but all opinions are my own*

Have you tried any of the Dark Summer Collection from Ulta3? What products do you have your eyes on? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂

New In My Collection | May 2019

Hi Beauties!

Before I jump into today’s post I just wanted to give you a little update. If you follow my blog closely then you may have noticed that I had been trying to stick to a regular posting schedule with posts designated to certain weeks. While this was great for a few weeks, I found myself falling out of love with the entire process as I was forcing myself to write posts just so I could keep the little theme schedule going. So moving forward I have decided to scratch this idea and just post things that I m excited to share with you guys. I am also going to trial different posting times so my blog posts will come in at random times over the next little while until I find a day/s or time/s that work well for me. Follow my Instagram so you know exactly when I am going to post!

Anyway, enough rambling because today’s post is already going to be long enough! I am going to be sharing my recent purchases with you today.

Let’s get into it.

#1 – Shop Miss A

I recently made a small order from the Shop Miss A site. If you haven’t heard of them, Miss A is a US-based site that stocks their own brand of $1 (USD) items, as well as some other popular affordable makeup and skincare brands. They have grown a lot since my last order with them (a few years ago), so I was excited to check out the new things they have available on their site.

After seeing an Instagram story from the ever so lovely @kimkroft about some absolutely stunning magnetic palettes, I jumped straight on and made an order. The three I picked up are from the brand a2o Lab. They have so many beautiful palettes, some smaller and some larger. I grabbed one each of the large wood, gold paint and rose gold palettes. They are super sturdy and are amazing quality and they each come with a large mirror which is a great bonus!

Next up I picked up two AOA Studio skincare products. The eye makeup remover pads are said to remove even the toughest waterproof makeup without tugging and pulling on your eyes. The lip remover pads are almost exactly the same product! But they are obviously more targeted towards removing liquid lipsticks by melting away the products. I am excited to see how these perform.

#2 – Lashed Co.

I have made not 1 but 2 separate orders from Lashed Co. this past month (cause I love them that much, obviously!) The beautiful Caitlin Hosking established this brand in 2016 and specializes in some amazing 3D Faux Mink and Silk lashes. She has launched Luxeva Cosmetics in 2017 which currently sells matte lipsticks and makeup blender sponges which I am yet to try but definitely want to get my hands on!

I had no idea that she had packs of lashes for sale on her website, so when I came across my all-time favourite lashes (Miss Budapest) in a pack of 5 I couldn’t stop myself from putting them into my cart! Within the same order, I also picked up a pair of the Miss Shanghai and Miss Sydney lashes. They are so stunning and I can’t wait to use them.

Fast forward maybe a week or two, and I noticed that Cait was having an amazing sale on the site. So naturally, I grabbed some more lashes! This time I picked up the Miss Cuzco and Miss Rio lashes. Lastly, I picked up a lash applicator which is so stunning and might make it easier for me to apply my lashes with my newly grown claws.

#3 – Mecca

It was my birthday last month! I was lucky enough to receive some money from my amazing Nanny, so I treated myself to some goodies from Mecca. I had been wanting to try the Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer for AGES now, so I picked up the shade Swan. I have been trying it out for a little while now and so far so good. I might do a little review on it soon to let you know my full thoughts.

I have been lovely my Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows so I knew I needed some more in my collection. This time I grabbed a Shade Mystere in the shade Spellbound. It is a violet shade with fuchsia and blue flip pearls. I am yet to use it but I am excited to see what looks I can incorporate it into.

Next up I restocked my new favourite moisturizer. Now, Tatcha is by no means a brand for everyone, and when I saw how much the full-sized water cream cost I was a little shocked. But after using the mini size for a while now I was prepared to spend the cash on it. However, sadly (or luckily) for me they had run out of stock. So I ended up grabbing another mini one! I love The Water Cream so much, it leaves my skin feeling super smooth and hydrated for such a long time!

Lastly, I ran out of my favourite MAC Cosmetics Brush Cleanser so I was on the hunt for another. Mecca didn’t stock that product, unfortunately, but the lovely girl helping me recommended the Mecca Max Power Tool Brush Refresh Mist. I have been using it for a while now and so far so good! Only negative is that the scent is really strong as the main ingredient is isopropyl alcohol (as it is great for disinfecting).

#4 – XoBeauty

As if all the lashes mentioned above weren’t enough, I picked up more! XoBeauty was having a 40% off sale so I took advantage of it and picked up some styles I haven’t tried yet. In case you didn’t know, XoBeauty is YouTube Queen ShaaanXo’s own brand. She sells lashes, brushes and makeup!

I picked up two of the Faux Mink Lashes in the styles Panther and Thunder. They look like such amazing quality and are super fluffy so I am excited to use them. Lastly, I had been in the hunt for some fake lashes for the lower lash line so when I saw The Understated lashes on her site I picked up 2 pairs!

#5 – PLouise

The P Louise bases have been all the hype lately as it is said to intensify any eyeshadow look when used as a base. It was such a hit when it was first released that there are now numerous shades of the original base so that any person with any skin tone can find the right base for them. They have also released coloured bases which look so amazing! For us here in Australia, the exchange rate, as well as the price of shipping, is a big factor when making a purchase like this one, as it ends up being sooooo much more expensive.

However, I treated myself (after all the other purchases lol) and grabbed 3 shades, 0, 0.5 and 1. I am beyond excited to test these out and I am thinking I might have a dedicated review post on these soon!

#6 – Baddie Cosmetics

Neon pigments have been taking over the makeup world lately and it’s easy to see why! They are so bright and beautiful and they really step up any makeup look. I had been on the hunt for some neon pigments for a while when I saw an Instagram post about the Baddie Cosmetics Neon Lights Stack!

I jumped straight over to their website and ordered myself one. It comes with 6 bold and intense pigments. I am a little scared to try them out as they are loose eyeshadows so I know I will get them everywhere but stay tuned to see if I can create some looks with them!

Did I pick up anything you have had your eye on? What other products do you think I should try out? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂

Beauty Haul | New In My Collection

Hi Beauties!

I have been on a pretty strict budget lately. But, I have also been allocating myself a small amount out of this budget to treat myself to some new goodies! This weeks blog post is a small one all about my recent beauty purchases! If you would like to see a more in-depth post on any of the products I mention, please leave me a comment and let me know.

Let’s get into it!

Maybelline Super Stay 24H Full Coverage FoundationI have heard so many good things about this foundation and decided that it was about time that I tried it out for myself. I have a handful of foundations in my collection that are my go to, so I never tend to use anything other than those. I have tried this out once since I brought it and so far so good! It is said to be a long wearing full coverage foundation that leaves the skin looking matte and flawless. I agree with the matte and long wearing part, however I would say that it is a medium coverage that is build-able.

L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundationagain, this is another foundation that I have heard so many good things about and decided it was about time to try it out for myself. I am yet to try this one, so I am yet to form an opinion on it, however it is said to be a super hydrating, lightweight, long wearing, medium coverage foundation for normal to dry skin beauties. Can’t wait to test this one out, I will share more info about it after I try it over on my Instagram. So follow me on there to keep updated!

Models Prefer Facial Cleansing BrushI have owned this facial cleansing brush previously before and absolutely loved it. I had to get rid of it when I moved as I noticed it was looking a little worse for wear. I missed it so much so I had to pick it up from Priceline again! It is a dual speed spinning brush head which deep cleans your skin. It comes with a soft brush head, latex sponge and a silicone massaging disc (which is what I use). I love using it at the end of the day to get rid of all the dirt, makeup and whatever gross stuff I have sitting on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling so nice and clean.

Maybelline Master Conceal Concealerif you have read any of my previous makeup bag posts, then you have probably seen this concealer before. I already own the light shade and I use it regularly in my makeup routine because it is an amazing full coverage concealer. However, the light shade is slightly wrong for my pale skin tone, so I have been needing to pick it up in the lightest shade, and you guessed it, I finally did! This concealer is said to be a full coverage, high resistant concealer that camouflages imperfections and dark circles, and I 100% agree with what it claims to be!

BYS Super Slim MascaraI feel like everyone in the beauty world has mentioned the Mac Cosmetics Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara at some point. So I found what I believe is a $9 version of that! Granted, I have never actually tried the Mac Mascara, I feel like I have seen it being used in that many beauty YouTube videos that I can understand what it’s all about. When I spotted the BYS Super Slim Mascara in Kmart I thought ‘why not’. This Mascara claims to capture every single lash with its ultra-fine micro brush that delivers volume to even the smallest of lashes. I have used it once already (only on my bottom lashes) and I really liked it! Definitely something I want to play around more with though.

OXX Studio IlluminatorI really enjoy looking at the affordable makeup each time I go to Kmart, however I never really pick anything up. I finally took the plunge and grabbed this illuminator from Kmart’s own brand OXX. It claims to add a pop of shine to every look and create a stunning glow. I haven’t used it yet, but if I am being honest, the way it looks in the jar worries me (very oily). I will definitely keep you updated on my thoughts of this one.

Juvia’s Place Eyeshadow Palettesever since Nikkie Tutorials started raving about the brand Juvia’s Place I knew I wanted to get my hands on some of their products. I definitely had a ‘treat yourself’ moment when I purchased three of their eyeshadow palettes from Black Swallow. I picked up The Saharan Palette, which is a vibrant 12 panned palette, The Saharan 2, which is a beautiful 9 panned palette, and The Zulu palette, which is a very bright and colourful 9 panned palette. I have only used one so far, but I can say that Nikkie Tutorials is definitely onto something here guys!

Have you tried any of the products mentioned? What new things have you been playing with this month? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Shayla x Colourpop | First Impressions

Hi Beauties!

Long time, no blog post! I know it has been so long between blog posts. I feel like my life has just been so crazy busy lately, and to be honest I am still trying to get on top of it all. I have been working like crazy, studying, doing assessments, travelled to Thailand and looking for a new house to move into. Because of all of this I have barely had any time to focus on makeup. I still have a lot going on, so my posts won’t be as regular as I would like. But I am trying my best to get back into the swing of things, so please bare with me.

I am super excited for this post! As soon as I saw the reveal for this collection I knew I had to have it. Although I might be a little late with this first impression (I did receive this package while I was in Thailand so it was always going to be a little delayed) I am hoping that the expression better late than never applies.

Shayla (also known as makeupshayla on instagram) teamed up with the amazing Colourpop Cosmetics to release her own collection of products. If you have read my of my previous posts about Colourpop, you would know that it is a new favourite of mine. Their entire range is extremely cheap but has really high quality, and they have something for everyone.

Let’s break down the collection a little bit! Firstly, there is the ‘Perception’ pressed powder shadow palette, which costs $23 USD (approx. $30 AUD) and it contains 16 amazing pressed shadows, with the perfect mix of matte and metallic finishes. Then there are three stunning creme lux lipstick shades, ‘Quickie’, ‘C’mon Sis’ and ‘Oouuuu!’. These can be bought separately for $7 USD (approx. $9 AUD) or in a set for only $21 USD (approx. $28 AUD). Next there is a super sparkly ultra glossy lip called ‘Neat Freak’ which costs only $6 USD (approx. $9 AUD). Last but not least, there are two stunning luster dust loose highlighters, ‘Pose’ and ‘Boomin’ which run for only $7 USD (approx. $9 AUD).

I picked up the entire collection during their first release as a bundle which cost $59 USD (approx. $78 AUD). The collection sold out during this release but has since been restocked at the time of this post.

Let’s get into swatching and my first impressions on the products.

I have recently grown to love the formula and pigmentation of the Colourpop pressed powder shadows. They blend super easily and look amazing on the eyes. The ‘Perception’ palette contains a great mix of 6 matte and 12 metallic shades. They are super pigmented (as expected) and I can definitely see myself using each and every shade. As you can see by the swatches (excuse the goose bumps, it was freezing) the metallic shades are true stand outs. I don’t know how Colourpop do it, but their metallic/shimmer shadows are my favourite formula by far! I love that this palette comes with the more natural shades, but also has 6 more ‘out-of-the-box’ shades as it can really allow you to make all different sort of looks with just the one palette. The packaging of this is also a highlight. I love the drips, the huge mirror and the fact that the shade names are under each shadow is a nice added bonus.

Shayla x Colourpop Collection – Oouuuu!, Quickie and C’mon Sis Creme Lux Lipsticks

If I am being honest, I have never previously tried any of the crème lux lipsticks from Colourpop Cosmetics. I am a matte liquid lip kind of girl, as I am not a huge fan of the way other lipstick finishes look on my lips. The Shalya x Coloupop crème lux lipsticks are all creamy-matte shades and are said to be longwearing. ‘Oouuuu!’ is a warm peach shade, ‘Quickie’ is a peachy nude and ‘C’mon Sis’ is a soft pinky brown shade. I love that each of these shades could be warn by so many different skin tones. I see myself absolutely loving ‘Quickie’ and ‘C’mon Sis’ as they are right up my ally. ‘Oouuuu!’ is something I will have to warm up to as I am not so used to wearing that sort of shade. The packaging is again beautiful!

As I have said many times, I am not a gloss wearer. I usually hate the look of gloss on my lips and I never really reach for the glosses I already have in my collection. However, I did want to try the Shalya x Colourpop gloss out as it looks absolutely stunning. ‘Neat Freak’ is an ultra glossy lip with high shine and a metallic pearl finish. It is a peachy champagne with little pink and gold glitters mixed throughout. I can’t wait to try it out!

Shayla x Colourpop Collection – Pose and Boomin Luster Dust Loose Highlighters

Lastly, the luster dust loose highlighters. To my knowledge, these are the first loose highlighters in the Colourpop line and by the looks of things they won’t be the last. ‘Boomin’ is a peachy gold shade while ‘Pose’ is more of a warm copper. I will definitely get more wear out of ‘Boomin’ but I may be able to find another use for the warmer shade. These loose highlighters are super finely milled and are packed with high shine glitters and pearls which make for a pretty blinding highlight. Just from the swatches alone, I am obsessed!

Did you pick up anything from this collection? What were your first impressions? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂
