Certifeye | The Tropical Wonders Palette | Palette Review

Hi Beauties,

If you follow me on Instagram (Makeupby.EmmaKate, you know, if you want to) then you would know that I have been very into the colourful, fun and bright makeup looks lately. When trying to find myself an amazing, yet affordable, colourful makeup palette, I did what any beauty lover would do… I searched the depths of Instagram to find out what colourful palette all the amazing “beauty guru’s” had been using. Lo and behold, I came across the Certifeye Tropical Wonders Palette.

At this point, weeks had gone by, and I had really wanted to pick this palette up. Then one day, again while I was clicking my way through the stories on Instagram, I found a post which led me back to the Certifeye Insta page. To my shock, there it was. The Tropical Wonders Palette – 40% off! I picked it up then and there and never looked back!

Certifeye is a UK based brand who is well known for their amazing glitters, lashes and eyeshadow palettes. The Tropical Wonders Palette went viral not long after it’s release and I am sure just by looking at the palette, you can understand why. The palette goes for £30 (approx. $54 AUD), so after the 40% off, it was such a bargain! The palette itself consists of 18 matte shadows with a colour story that reaches from one side of the rainbow to the other. It is also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. (FYI: I ordered the palette on the 23rd of January and received it just over a week later).

Let’s get into some swatches!

IMG_0199

Not only are the shadows extremely bright in the pan, but as you can see, they are super pigmented when swatched as well. If you saw my previous post (6 Looks, 1 Palette) then you would see the different ways in which I have used this palette within the short amount of time that I have had it in my collection. And you would also see that the colours really blend super nicely on the eyes. They are also super build-able, which means you can intensify the look, or leave them a little lighter if you want more of a pastel bright eyeshadow look. I would say however, some of the shades are a little more “chalky” feeling than others, but the majority are definitely super buttery to the touch.

I love that even though this is a super bright palette, you can still create some stunning, more toned down looks. There are a few shades in the palette that can be used as subtle transition shades (such as Dusk or Shrimp) and I love the inclusion of pure white (Waterfall) and deep black (Bonobo) shades. My favourites would have to be Honeycreeper, Coast and Starling, they are just so pigmented and bright.

Final thoughts: I am SO happy that I picked up this eyeshadow palette and I really am in love with the product. I would say that the Tropical Wonders Palette is both great for advances makeup skills, but also really beginner friendly also. There isn’t a single shade in the palette that lets it down, so it really is great value for money. My only con; It’s currently sold out :(! If you can get your hands on it, you won’t be disappointed!

Have you tried the Tropical Wonders Palette? What other Certifeye products should I pick up? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂

Beauty Bay Haul | Bragging Rights Sale

Hi Beauties!

It’s been a hot minute since I made an order on Beauty Bay, but when I saw that they were having a ‘Bragging Rights’ sale, with up to 30%, I thought I would pick myself up a bargain or two. I love shopping on Beauty Bay because even though it is a UK run site, they ship to so many places all over the world, AND they have all their prices converted to whatever currency you need. So there are no nasty surprises when the conversion rates get taken out from your bank account. Another added bonus is that they have free shipping once you spend over a certain amount. Who doesn’t love that?!

Let’s get into looking at some bargains!

IMG_0119

Firstly, I had been wanting to try out the highly talked about Revolution Makeup London Concealer for quite some time now. So, when I saw it on Beauty Bay for only $5 AUD I took advantage and picked up a few shades. I find it hard to know exactly what colour I will need for my skin tone, but I figured that if I grabbed a SUPER pale shade and two fair to light shades then surely something will match me with either my natural skin or fake tanned skin.

IMG_0116

Similarly, I had been wanting to try out the Revolution Makeup London Foundation for a while now also. It was on Beauty Bay for only $11 AUD (which is cheaper than some of the foundations found at our versions of drugstores)! Again, I picked up two different shades, one lighter and one darker. Fingers crossed that I can get a match to my skin tone.

IMG_0117

Yet another foundation that I had been wanting to try was the Milani Cosmetics Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation. I have heard mixed reviews about this product, but when I saw it on the site for only $14 AUD, I knew it was too good of a deal to pass up. I only picked up one shade in this foundation so fingers crossed I can make it work.

IMG_0118

The last foundation that I picked up was the L.A. Girl Pro.Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation (longest name in the world or what?). The packaging of this product looks so much like the Makeup Forever HD Foundation, and it was only $13 AUD! which is another product I hope to try out one day. I haven’t heard much about this product but I am excited to give it a go.

IMG_0121

As many of you may know, I am a devoted collector of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks. There were a few early shades that I wasn’t able to get my hands on when they were first released. So I took advantage of the sale and grabbed two shades of the Liquid Lipsticks for only $20 AUD each. I grabbed the shades Allegedly and Skin Tight. They are both stunning nudey shades so I am sure I will love them.

IMG_0120

Last, but certainly not least, I picked up another Anastasia Beverly Hills no.12 Large Synthetic Duo Brow Brush. I already own one of these brushes and I use it every single time I do my makeup. However, I wanted another one so I can have two seperate brushes for my brow pomade and my brow powder.

Did you pick up anything from the Beauty Bay Bragging Rights Sale? What product from this post would you most like to try? Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂

Colourpop Disney Designer Collection | 3 Princess Inspired Looks

Hi Beauties,

Doing something a little different on the blog today. Usually I save my makeup looks for my Instagram (makeupby.emmakate if you want to check me out). However, the other week I shared my first impressions of the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection and an amazing follower (thanks Aleeya) commented to let me know it would be super cool if I did some Princess inspired looks using the shadow palette. So, that’s what I did. If you enjoy this post let me know and I might do more of them in the future.

Let’s get into it!

Look 1 – Ariel

  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – It’s A Princess Thing shadow palette (juju, poison apple, magic carpet & enchanted rose)
  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – Ariel lux lipstick
  • XoBeauty – fantasy faux mink lashes
  • Iconic London – pigment Stick
  • Jeffree Star Cosmetics – ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ velour liquid lipstick in waterline
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills – brow powder duo

Look 2 – Snow White

  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – It’s A Princess Thing shadow palette (juju, triton & prince charming)
  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – Snow White lux lipstick
  • Maybelline – super stay foundation & hyper sharp wing liner
  • The Balm Cosmetics – down boy blush
  • XoBeauty – fantasy faux mink lashes
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills – brow powder duo

Look 3 – Belle

  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – It’s A Princess Thing shadow palette (chip, grumpy, triton, abu, one kiss? & midnight curfew)
  • Colourpop x Disney Designer Collection – Belle lux lipstick
  • Nars – natural radiant long wear foundation
  • Hourglass x Mecca – ambient lighting palette (mecca birthday glow & luminous bronze light)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills – brow powder duo & ‘that glow’ glow kit (bubbly & sunburst)
  • LashedCo. – Miss Budapest lashes

I have seriously loved playing around with this palette and I am sure that I will be picking it up constantly over the next few months. I love that it has the usual transition colours, with a few darker shades, as well as the random pops of purples and pinks. It is definitely a palette that is great for travelling as you can create so many different looks with it.

Did you pick up anything from the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection? What was your favourite look? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂
